Information Creation as a process

Research topic: What is the role played by the University of the Western Cape (UWC) library in providing information literacy to first year, Library and Information Science students.


Task: I have to find five formats of  sources on a research topic of my choice which is: What is the role played by the University of the Western Cape (UWC) library in providing information literacy to first year, Library and Information Science students. Then i would  have to give reasons why those formats are appropriate for the information need.

I choose this video simply because in it, it basically gives a a clear outline /perspective of what information literacy is and why its considered as one of  the many skills one should possess in order to be a life long learner and be considered literate. As it it also evaluates learners literacy levels.

 





PowerPoint Slide

This slide was taken from slide-share, this slide caught my attention as its students who are information literacy advocates,who share the same ideology when it comes to information literacy with an aim of developing literacy knowledge,skills and confidence through the provision of peer support.

I had chosen this article based on the following reason: Its main focus in mainly on exploring students beliefs or how they perceive information literacy as the main competency which would encourage life long learning and that this is one of the few articles that i found very subjective in the profile of LIS students.

The reason I chose this  book is because that it provides a brief review of current  research  relating to teachings of the library and information literacy skills as part of effective school library and media center programming,


This book can found at the UWC library and its a E-Book.


Conference paper

I chose this conference paper for this reason, as it briefly gives the reader or any paper attending the conference a  clear abstract of what it contains,and it also reviews the integration of information literacy skills into post graduate consumer behavior class.
